ANAC Colorful Propellor |
March 23, 2011 |
When
aircraft parts aren't suitable for use anymore they sometimes have an
alternative use. AELS likes to help people acquire aircraft parts for
unusual applications. In this case AELS delivered a propellor to Akzo
Nobel Aerospace Coatings (ANAC). They had artist Josien Broeren paint the propellor after which it was used as the ANAC Visionary Award.
There are also two videos by Josien Broeren where she is painting the propellor. Watch the first video here and the second video here.

AELS
founder Derk-Jan van Heerden and TU Delft professor Ricky Curran wrote a
chapter in the Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering, published by John
Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The chapter is titled Value Extraction from
End-of-life Aircraft. The article describes how the niche in which AELS
is active is structured and describes challenges and opportunities. It
sets the academic basis for future research and defines the different
elements of the end-of-life recycling process. The first page of this
chapter is available for download in the articles section.
More information on the Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering and the complete article is available on the website of the publisher..
