The prestigious NVvL graduation award of the year 2006 is awarded to Derk-Jan van Heerden for his master thesis with the title: End-of-Life Aircraft: How to deal with old aircraft withdrawn from service. This report formed the basis of AELS’ unique End-of-Life Decision Tool. The result of this tool is now offered to aircraft owners all over the world in the End-of-Life Decision Report. The award was handed out during a ceremony November 23rd, 2006. The main criteria for the award are scientific value, innovative character and industry relevance.
The NVvL (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Luchtvaarttechniek, Netherlands Association of Aeronautical Engineers) is the Dutch counter part of other aerospace societies like the famous British Royal Aeronautical Society.

Two interviews were published this month in Dutch magazines. The first was published in 'Technisch Weekblad', which is published weekly for Dutch engineers. The second was published in 'Op de Bok' a monthly magazine for the Vereniging van Nederlandse Verkeersvliegers (VNV, Dutch Pilot Association).
